Winter is officially here! AWOL Tours celebrated the first day of winter by embarking on a hike of Table Mountain with Brenton and Jacqui Edgecombe. Any normal person would not have risked hiking Table Mountain today as the the mountain was covered in heavy, dark clouds and with the north-westerly wind blowing, a treacherous rain forecast looked ominous. However, with AWOL Tour`s professionally trained, accredited guides, we are able to conduct tours in any kind of weather.

Brenton and Jacqui Edgecombe, both Australian, are performers involved in the cruise ship industry for the past 13 years! They had one full day to spend in Cape Town and opted to do a Table Mountain hike with AWOL tours. The best hiking option for the day was to hike the Kasteelspoort route to Table Mountain. With majestic views of Lion`s Head, Signal Hill, Camps Bay, not to mention amazing waterfalls on the mountain due to the large amount of rain we`ve experienced in Cape Town the last few days, the Edgecombe couple were in awe of Table Mountain and the beauty it has to offer.
With the sunlight peaking through behind the dark clouds from time to time, it accentuated the different green shrubs of the fynbos vegetation. As we reached the top of Table Mountain, Jaqui Edgecombe was overcome with emotion as it has been a life long dream of hers to climb Table Mountain! She never thought that she would get the opportunity, and with rain threatening, she thought her opportunity has passed. The Edgecombe`s couldn`t thank me enough for an unforgettable hiking experience.
As we said our goodbyes back at their hotel, our driver for the day tuned to me and said: “Leonard, that couple look very happy. You must have done something right today!” Yes at AWOL Tours we don`t take you on “just another” tour experience, we can also make dreams a reality!
