The combination with the Moon and Table Mountain on the background gives us Capetonians a unique opportunity to get together and cycle on the planet we love – guarded by the Full Moon.
The tenth Moonlight Mass starts at the Green Point circle at 9pm tonight 30th September 2012, and ends at Greenmarket Square. Bicycles of all shapes and sizes gather near the Cape Town stadium abit a hum drum of chatting. The vibe and energy of the gathering is electric as cyclists gather in a variety of outfits gather. A good idea is to wear fairy lights, helmets and reflective gear.
The Moonlight Mass only started this year on the 7th January with a few friends participating as a twitter experiment. Its now recognized as an organized event with traffic police since the Premier Helen Zille participated.
AWOL Tours can provide you, and your friends, with our funky old fashioned dutch bicycles at the V&A Waterfront Information Centre going from R 100. All you need to do is book and pay before 6pm at our offices and your bikes will be ready to collect.
The Moonlight Mass bike tour ride ends on Greenmarket Square where cupcakes and hot chocolate are provided in the Methodist Church and Vida e caffè. Upon returning your AWOL bicycle to the V&A Waterfront you might want to grab a cold beer at Mitchell’s Brewery to gather your breath after the Mass or to start ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’….
