It’s the Cape Town Cycle Tour’s 47th anniversary on Sunday 9th March 2025. If you are registered and ready to ride the wave of the biggest timed bike race in the world but don’t yet have a bike, fear not! AWOL Tours has a week-end special bike rental package so you can pedal the event at a leisurely pace!
On offer are the Giant Escape hybrid bikes. These bridge the gap between road bikes and mountain bikes, offering a comfortable riding position with their flat handlebars, effortless efficiency with a rigid fork and low-profile tyres. Although they may not get you to a sub 3 (unless you are doing the shortened 42 km route) they certainly will offer a comfortable ride. Letting you take in the iconic coastal scenery and the festive cheering from supporters along the way.
Below is the Giant Escapes, which offers a lightweight aluminium frame and fork with hydraulic disc brakes. These are equipped with Shimano 2×8 group set and 700x 35c tyres. The sizes still available are medium, large and x-large.
Entries for the 2025 Cape Town Cycle Tour open in Sept 2024. But if you are an international rider, you can register at any stage.
A variety of bike sizes are available to rent for the whole Cycle Tour weekend from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th March 2024 (or part thereof) at a special rate of R3000 per bike . If you prefer to make use of clipless pedals, then please bring your own pedals and shoes. Helmets, pumps and a spare tube will be provided along with the rental. Additionally, you will receive a complimentary AWOL cycling water bottle to keep as a memento.
The collection and return location is conveniently located at our Battery Park office in the V&A Waterfront, close to the Cape Town Stadium registration venue and the end of the race. Collections can be done anytime from 9am on Friday 10th March to 6pm on Sunday 10th March 2024. After-hours collection is available on request with advance notice.
Kindly note we have a limited bikes allocated for rentals, so do not wait until the last minute! Please also note that we require credit card details for deposit and rental only of riders (and not third-party reservations). T&C’s apply.
