Having escaped the snow storms in Sweden, the Mlynarczyk were happy to be out getting some exercise cycling around Cape Town with clear blue skies overhead and Table Mountain looming above. Kitted out on the comfortable OV fiets we hitched up with children’s bicycle trailer and seats, the family set off for an easy pedal around the V&A Waterfront working harbour, Mouille Point Lighthouse and Green Point Stadium.Having escaped the snow storms in Sweden, the Mlynarczyk were happy to be out getting some exercise cycling around Cape Town with clear blue skies overhead and Table Mountain looming above. On the guided tour around the Waterfront we discussed the iconic landmarks such as the gothic, red brick Clock Tower built in 1882. Designed as the Port Captain’s office, the clock tower was filled with mirrors, to ensure that the Port Captain could see everything that was going on in the harbour. Thanks to a restoration project in 1997, the original clock is still in use today.
The guided cycle tour took the group around the working harbour to the Mouille Point lighthouse and even had time for the children to swing and slide in the nearby playground before returning to the bustling Waterfront.
